Telstar had to finance the renovation of the supporters' home and organized a lottery for this purpose. They managed to assemble a unique prize package with a starring role for Louis van Gaal! An ultimate grand prize that became the reason for many people to participate in this lottery.

Priceless prizes

Organizing a successful lottery goes hand in hand with having an attractive grand prize. Fun prizes with a "money can't buy" factor always work well to generate extra PR for a lottery.

Telstar understood this unwritten rule of lotteries perfectly. They secured Louis van Gaal to return for one game as a coach and raffled off a spot as an assistant coach as the grand prize. The video above even made its way into the TV broadcast of De Oranjezomer with Wilfred Genee and Johan Derksen.

In total, no less than 163 prizes were up for grabs, offered by Telstar's sponsors, who were given a great platform as part of the lottery.

Where did the proceeds go?

The proceeds from the lottery were allocated as follows:

• 86% went towards financing the renovation of the supporters' home at the BUKO football stadium

• 7% went to the Stichting Spieren voor Spieren (Muscles for Muscles Foundation), which aims to defeat all muscular diseases in children

• 7% went to Stichting Durf te Dromen (Dare to Dream Foundation), which helps young people with talent development in Overvecht.
