Staatsloterij sweepstake Crack the Safe
Crack the Safe is a unique sweepstake to make an impact on location. Every participant who registers has a chance to win the prize in the safe.
This year, Staatsloterij participated in the Huishoudbeurs at the RAI Amsterdam. Their goal was not only to generate attention for their booth but also to acquire valuable leads in the form of new potential subscriber players. By offering visitors an interactive and engaging experience, people were more likely to leave their contact details.
The Lotfiy Solution
We combined our expertise in games of chance, technology, and custom solutions to develop an innovative concept: the 'Crack the Safe' sweepstake.
A special safe was designed and produced, running on Lotify's software. The concept was simple: visitors had the chance to crack the safe after registering and could win exciting prizes.
A win-win situation—while Staatsloterij moved closer to their lead generation goal with each participation, the audience had the opportunity to win great prizes!
How it works
Transparant windows with branding
The safe featured transparent windows, making the prize inside clearly visible to passersby. This created curiosity and sparked interest among visitors.
QR-code
A QR code was placed on the safe and other promotional materials. A promotional team at the booth assisted visitors during the sweepstake. By scanning the QR code with their smartphone, visitors were directed to a Staatsloterij-branded webpage.
Digital registration form
On the digital registration form, participants could submit a wish. Their entry was confirmed after providing some personal details, such as name, address, email, and date of birth (due to the 18+ policy). By optionally providing their phone number, participants granted Staatsloterij permission to contact them with an offer to subscribe for automatic participation in the Staatsloterij draws.
Game and privacy terms
To ensure the security of both participants and the organizer, a link to the privacy terms was included on the digital registration form. These terms were automatically generated through the Lotify platform.
Entering the unique code
After registering via the digital entry form, participants received a unique code via email. This was the exciting moment! If they entered the unique code on the safe’s keypad and the door opened, they won the prize inside! If the safe didn’t open, they still had a chance to win the grand prize.
Prizes
Participants who successfully cracked the safe instantly won the prize inside. Each exhibition day, 57 one-fifth Staatsloterij tickets were given away. Additionally, at the end of the Huishoudbeurs, a grand prize was drawn among all participants, offering a tax-free €4,500 prize! The drawing for this grand prize was conducted using Lotify’s certified drawing system, ensuring a fair, secure, and transparent selection process. The jubilant winner remained anonymous, just like all Staatsloterij prize winners.
Result
The 'Crack the Safe' sweepstake was a great success, attracting 3,200 enthusiastic participants, fully aligning with the set goal. Notably, 50% of participants opted in, explicitly agreeing to be contacted by Staatsloterij with an offer to become a subscriber. This exceptionally high opt-in ratio not only demonstrated quantitative success but also highlighted the quality of audience engagement and interest at the Huishoudbeurs.
Future Use
With the safe, Staatsloterij now has an innovative and reusable tool to continue generating leads and fostering customer loyalty in a fun and engaging way. The sweepstake software is ready to be reactivated.
Lotify also rents out the safe to other parties. A brand logo can be applied to the safe’s glass, making it a striking and personalized addition to any event where Crack the Safe is featured.
